Celebrant Costs

Your wedding ceremony is the central focus of your wedding day.  Choosing your ceremony and your Celebrant needs as much, if not more, care and attention, as choosing your dress or your shoes or your cake or flowers.  You have to get it right ... there is normally no opportunity for a re-run!  Many couples under-estimate the importance of having a professional, sensitive, caring, skilled Civil Marriage Celebrant, and they under-estimate the cost of hiring one, even though the cost of the Celebrant will often be less than the cost of the flowers or the bridesmaid's dresses!

A Civil Marriage Celebrant is not subsidised, as is a Church or the Registry Office,  they have to cover all the costs of operating a home-based Celebrancy practice from the fees they charge for their ceremonies, before they even make an hourly rate for their time.  In addition, a religious or Registry Office ceremony is already "in the book", with little or no modification permitted, whereas, as a Civil Celebrant, I will craft a unique and personalised ceremony, researched and designed to reflect you as a couple, your journey, your thoughts and feelings, and with components selected by you.  And it will be developed and modified with your input, and it will not be signed off until you are completely happy with every word!

As a Civi Celebrant, before I can earn a wage, on average at least half of my fee goes to cover all the overheads involved in running my independent home-based Celebrancy practice.  These costs include:  all travel and petrol, vehicle maintenance, telephone (landline and mobile), broadband, resource books and materials, clothing, on-site rehearsal, supply and preparation of all celebrant stationery, legal documents and certificates, registration of marriage, PA system for music and microphones, sound manager present at ceremonies, Bali flags, red carpet, table and chairs for signing, table decorations, commemorative copy of ceremony, order-of-ceremony leaflets for guests, professional indemnity and public liability insurance, marketing and advertising, compliance with Code of Conduct including compulsory ongoing professional development, Celebrant Association memberships, web-site design and management, printing, postage ... plus the time taken with initial interview and subsequent consultations, preparation of personalised ceremony and research ... plus setting up and conduct of your ceremony on the day.

As a full-time Civil Celebrant, I have endeavoured to set my fee to cover not only material costs of offering my services, but also to cover my time on research, professional development, planning, designing, transport, delivery and follow-up work involved in performing my role for you.  I absolutely guarantee you value for money!
